Feeding your school-aged child

Feeding your school-aged child

If you have made it through the toddler stage, without intervening
in your child’s ability to eat according to hunger and fullness, then feeding
your child will be piece of pie.

Continue to offer a variety of meals and snacks and enjoy stress-free,
rewarding and connecting family meals.

If you have used food as bribe or reward; or nagged to begged,
your toddler to eat certain foods, don’t panic. There is no need to start packing
your guilt bags as you read this. Yes, we want to avoid putting any pressure on
the child, when it comes to eating and mealtimes. But the good thing is, it’s
never to late to trust your child. Let them choose whether to eat a food you
offer, and how much to eat, from the foods that are on the table. It might take
a few weeks for the child to adjust, and to trust you won’t restrict or put
pressure on their food intake. Once they are confident you keep your word, they
will balance out and self-regulate their food intake, as they were born to.

Building a strong foundation of family meals and positive
feeding structures, will set your child up for successful eating outside of
your home, i.e. at school or a friend’s place.

I do agree with all of the ideas you’ve presented for your post. They’re really convincing and can definitely work. Still, the posts are too brief for newbies. Could you please extend them a bit from subsequent time? Thank you for the post.
